The Center for Law and the Human Person at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (Catholic Law) hosted on Thursday, November 9 the 2023 Symposium for the Advancement of Catholic Healthcare, an initiative of the Catholic Health Care Leadership Alliance (CHCLA). Entitled “Health Care Policy Through the Lens of Catholic Teaching,” the symposium brought together scholars in medicine, bioethics, law, and philosophy; healthcare professionals; policy experts; Catholic University faculty and students; as well as a large contingent of religious sisters from Franciscan Health, a healthcare system operating in Illinois and Indiana. On March 3, 2022, the Catholic Law community gathered for the second program in the lecture series organized by the Law and the Human Person examining The Future of Roe v. Wade? Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The afternoon program entitled, “Abortion and the Meaning of Life: Some Anthropological Implications of the Viability Standard,” featured David Crawford, J.D., S.T.D., Dean and Associate Professor of Moral Theology and Family Law at Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage & Family, who discussed the anthropological implications of the Dobbs v. Catholic Law's Center for Law and the Human Person hosted a panel discussion on the role of infant adoption after the Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overruled Roe v. Wade. The program, "The Role of Adoption in a Post-Dobbs America" was held on campus in the William J. Byron S.J. Auditorium.
